Become A Mentor
Mentoring is key to every individual’s professional development—but studies from Harvard and beyond show that these relationships are VITAL to the professional success of minority professionals.
Early and mid-career mentoring can make a tremendous impact. It’s why when Bob and Sue Toigo launched the Foundation 20+ years ago, they made mentoring the cornerstone of the program. That focus remains through the Foundation’s leadership development program, APEx™.
How Mentoring Works at Toigo
Mentoring is more than a one-time encounter or exchange—more than a call or an email. Toigo sees it as a responsibility shared by the mentor, the student and the Foundation.
- Matching | The summer prior to the start of school for our new MBA Fellows, Toigo matches each Fellow with a mentor (professionals with 7+ years industry experience). We work hard to create pairings that support the Fellow’s area of career interest and the geographic preferences of both parties.
- Connecting | Toigo provides resources to both mentors and our Fellows to foster strong, productive (and rewarding) relationships. As part of our APEx programming, we make this robust toolkit available to mentors and students to ensure they forge strong partnerships.
- Expanding Your Reach | When you become a Toigo Mentor, you become an important part of the Toigo community and benefit from access to our expanded network of industry connections. Many Toigo mentors become advocates for inclusion and mentoring within their own firms.
