Nancy Sims | President

Nancy Sims has led the spirited transformation of the Toigo Foundation over the past 10 years to the recognizable and highly regarded organization it is today. Bringing more than two decades of business experience across many disciplines, Sims has created a dynamic organization through her entrepreneurial leadership and vision to preserve a relationship-driven operating model and alliance with the finance and related industries. Further Sims has been praised for her strategic planning of program expansion, brand marketing and program development aligned with the mission of the organization through a period of accelerated growth over the past 10 years.

Sims' unrelenting drive for excellence in the service of the organization and thoughtful delivery of programs has presented more than 700 highly qualified, sought-after diversity talent to the industry, as well as a team that embodies the values of the organization in its service to its donors, volunteers, alumni and fellows.

Under Sims' leadership, Toigo has become a vocal advocate for change with outreach initiatives driving the agenda for inclusion within the financial services industry and by bringing the Foundation's work to the attention of local and federal government. Sims was the first to initiate a vibrant model of collaboration with like-minded organizations in the late 1990s and today continues to foster an active network that provides exponential benefit to Toigo Alumni and Student Fellows and to the organization's mission.

Sims has been recognized for developing and implementing a model form of governance for the organization and mastery at presenting the transparency of operations and compliance expected for the 501c3. Her management style and entrepreneurial drive is modeled after that of a venture-backed start-up–focused, driven, partnership-minded, and absolute integrity. Sims' board development work has been viewed as a source of information and strategy for many non-profits over the years.

“We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community... Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own.”

- Cesar Chavez

Most importantly, Sims has worked diligently and through her team to foster a continuing relationship with its program participants (Fellows and Alumni) on an individual and collective basis, instilling in each the responsibility of their distinction as a Toigo Fellow and the life-long responsibility each must play in the promotion of inclusion in the industry. She balances a broad organizational perspective with an individualized touch and insight that allows each Fellow and volunteer to feel a close relationship to the organization.

Prior to joining the Foundation as its President, Sims served as a member of the Board of Directors for 5 years, as a mentor to many early stage Alumni. Sims represented the real estate investment sector as Senior Vice President and Director of Institutional Marketing for McNeil Capital and earlier as Vice President, Client Relations for the RREEF Funds.
