APEx™ (Advancing Professional Excellence) is the cornerstone of the efforts to develop and introduce the best and the brightest minority talent to the finance industry and is like no other leadership training vehicle in the country. Officially launched in 2000, the APEx™ curriculum has continued to expand each year based on the changing needs of Toigo Fellows and Alumni. From the start, the focus of APEx™ has been to complement and enhance—but not replace—the more technical curriculum Fellows and Alumni undertake during their MBA studies. In both the development and delivery of its APEx™ curriculum and programs, the Foundation has remained committed to involving the best minds from both academia and business.

Each participant draws a different and unique benefit from their APEx™ experience depending on their own character, skills and self-awareness levels. And with a curriculum and interactions tailored to ensure maximum benefit to all participants, APEx™ uniquely prepares Fellows and Alumni to address the special career challenges that only minority professionals will face. Through APEx™, even seasoned finance professionals who volunteer as Mentors and Coaches receive training and support as well as the basic tools they will need to help guide and mentor the students they are paired with.

For the nearly 600 Toigo Fellows and Alumni, their Mentors and Coaches, and the Foundation itself, leadership development is a lifelong commitment. Together, we are dedicated to making certain that Toigo Fellows and Alumni grow in their Toigo experience and APEx™ education to become Toigo Leaders with a strong foundation in the skills, thinking and talent needed for them to excel and become tomorrow’s most influential leaders in the business of finance.
